The excitement and enthusiasm in Clifton brought about by first year head football coach and Athletic Director Shawn Bell may soon fall flat as

Supercentex.com has confirmed Bell will be officially hired as the head coach of 4A Magnolia West High School following a an MISD school board meeting this week.  Bell makes the move with a career record of 3-7.

Supercentex.com obtained this breaking information from a Clifton administrator who wished to remain anonymous.

The Clifton official stated, "Shawn put in his resignation last week and informed us he will be taking the Magnolia West job."

After days of rumors, Supercentex.com dug deeper into the "back fence" talk among Clifton fans who called the SuperCentex offices requesting we find out more.  So we dug deeper and found several valid reasons to assume Bell was making the move.

Today those allegations were confirmed.

In 2009, Shawn was named the head football coach/Athletic Director of the Clifton Cubs who have struggled as of the last few years.  The school and community were undoubtedly thrilled about Shawn's arrival as he brought an energized attitude to the Clifton program that awoke sleeping Cub fans who looked forward to improving their upcoming gridiron seasons from that of recent years.

Upon taking the Clifton AD position, Bell made moves fast as he replaced many of the previous coaches across the board throughout the entire athletic program.  Some of those programs didn't struggle as much as football, but changes were made regardless.

Speaking with a number of applicants for the Clifton job, many of them felt they were unjustly disregarded for a younger inexperienced coach with no head coaching or athletic director stints.

If you're a frequent visitor to the SuperCentex.com message boards you may have noticed the worry and dismay of Clifton Cub fans' as they talked of the possibility that Shawn could move on after spending only one football season in Clifton.

Those worries came to life today.

The Magnolia West Mustangs went 4-6 during the 2009 football season with their only highlight of the year the being a win over school district rival Magnolia 17-6 in the last game of the season.

Magnolia West is not without it's share of despair. Not only does their record indicate a down program, but recently former head coach David Joiner was removed from his position and placed at one of the MISD junior highs.  He resigned the following week.

Many of Joiner's supporters voiced their opinion over the displaced coach in a special school board meeting on January 11th.  The opinions of those supporters were unified as they made the case to keep Coach Joiner at the school as the head coach.  The supporters included dozens of Magnolia West football players who said they were "losing their leader".  Joiner had been the school's head football coach since the school’s opening four years ago. Shawn Bell will inherit a Magnolia West football team that will look for success in their newly aligned district; Brenham (state finalist), Houston Northbrook, Houston Spring Woods, Houston Stratford, Magnolia, Montgomery, and Waller.

Shawn will also be closer to his younger brother Brian who will be a freshman at Sam Houston.  Brian will play QB for the Bearkats.

According to one Clifton official, front runners to fill the Clifton job include former Crawford coach Robert Murphy.

Supercentex.com expects the Clifton AD job to be open for the minimum amount of time, but Coach Murphy seems to be the likely replacement according to our sources.

Despite the disappointment Cub fans may feel with the announcement of Bell's resignation, as any fan of the Super Centex region knows, the always loyal Clifton faithful will support their team no matter the final outcome of this unfortunate situation.
