Crawford Pirates

2009 Record: 8-3 (DII Bi-District: Lost Grandview 35-14)

The Pirates will reload and look to get that nasty taste out of their mouths after being uncharacteristically bounced in bi-district last year. The defense will be stout with the return of pre-season All-State FS Jake Talbert to go along with Munro and Kendrick.

Cisco Lobos

Head Coach: Brent West

2009 Record: 12-1 (DII Regional Semifinalist: Def. Holliday 41-40, Def. San Saba 35-27, Lost Crane 31-28)

Cisco returns seven starters from a squad that went three rounds deep in the postseason last year before losing a heartbreaker to Crane in overtime. The Week 10 matchup in Crawford could very well be for all the marbles. 

Hico Tigers

Head Coach: Keith Wood

2009 Record: 7-3

Key Players:
RB/LB Dylan Turner
RB Alex Sikes
QB/DB Sonny Morrow

The Tigers return some key weapons on offense with Turner, Sikes, and Morrow and will look to break through into the postseason. All three of the Tigers losses last year came to the three playoff teams in 16-2A. Hico could very well be the beneficiary of the UIL adding a third playoff spot to 2A this summer.

Millsap Bulldogs

Head Coach: Kyle Coker

2009 Record: 8-3 (DII Bi-District: Lost Aubrey 34-7)

LB Casey Eller

Millsap’s strength will be on the defensive side of the ball, especially with Gooch and Hinrichs up front. The Bulldogs got a taste of the second season last year and all signs point to a Week 10 matchup with Hico to determine if they go back.

Hamilton Bulldogs

Head Coach: David Wright

2009 Record: 3-7

Hamilton should see improvement after a three win season a year ago with 11 starters returning from a bunch that played a very tough non-district schedule last year along the 16-2A slate .A lot of the success will hinge on how well Bottlinger transitions to QB from CB.

Tolar Rattlers

Head Coach: Mike Franklin

2009 Record: 8-3 (DII Area Finalis-1A : Lost Lindsay 35-8)

WR Miles Thedford

The Rattlers will feature maybe the most wide open offense attack in the district with QB Gilliam having many weapons to choose from including James, Thedford, and Lucas Baker. Tolar is making the jump from Class A DII and was 1-1 against 2A competition last year including a 38-0 loss to Hico last year.

Rio Vista Eagles

Head Coach: Seth Hobbs

2009 Record: 1-9

The good news for Rio Vista is they have more returning starters than anyone else in the district. The bad news is those same starters were 1-9 last year.
