2009 Playoffs: Regional Finalists; Defeated Troy 34-0, Winnsboro 34-13, Lost to Pilot Point (Eventual State Champion) 24-23

Godley comes in to the 2010 season as my pre-season favorite. The Wildcats are also ranked in the top 10 in division 1 at #5. The Wildcats lose QB Riley Good to graduation, but look to fill the gap with QB Rhett Brawner and RB Landry Martinez (29 TD’s).

Breckenridge Buckaroos

Head Coach: Steve Freeman

2009 Record: 1-9, 0-5

2009 Playoffs: None

Players to watch:
QB Vance Sullivan
TE/LB Jake King

Breckenridge comes down to 2A after struggling through one of the toughest 3A districts in the state, competing against the likes of Graham (State Finalists), Abilene Wylie (State Finalists) and Brownwood (Regional Finalists).

Comanche Indians

Head Coach: Jeryl Brixy

2009 Record: 9-3, 4-2

2009 Playoffs: Area Finalists, Defeated Colorado City 52-23 in bi-district; Lost to Henrietta 36-37

The Indians have graduated starters at key positions on offense, and will look heavily to their defense. DB’s Scott Bill (35 Tackles) and Clayton Ballard (96 Tackles) will see both sides of the ball. Ballard will be in the RB position, having scored 5 TD’s in 2009.

Clifton Cubs

Head Coach: Brandon Brown

2009 Record: 3-7, 1-7

2009 Playoffs: None

The Cubs now have their 3rd head coach in three years. Coach Brown comes in from Jacksboro after leading the Tigers to a 15-17 record over his three years there, with playoff appearances the last two. The QB position is up for grabs after the graduation of Dalton Vannatta. Players to watch are RB Dylan Brownsworth and WR Brad Maddux. Will Dryer also returns at the helm of the OL, Neeley returns at the LB position.
